Just when you think Starbucks, Gloria Jean, and franchise coffee by the litre has squeezed out
good coffee without the twist of vanilla, there lies Pellegrini's. At the top end of Bourke Street, since Amad was a boy, lies the bar, the barista, the coffee! It's all about the coffee, the food, and the smiles. No, you can't have a mega-choco-decaf-soy-latte served in a cardboard bucket. THANK GOD! ... and the food it just good solidly reliable, affordable and tasty. To lose Pellegrini's would be to lose a part of Melbourne. I for one will picket on the streets should this establishment ever be threatened.

Kluang Station railway stop is made famous when people from all walks of life make a pit stop for some good Hand Roasted Hainanese
coffee; half boiled eggs and toasted bread. This Coffee Shop Canteen has been operating since 1938 and is still running strong by the 3rd generation of the Lim Family. Now, their great grandson, Mr JJ Phun, revitalises the heritage and expand it further for all to enjoy.
Kluang Station coffee is 100% local as the beans are home grown and painstakingly hand roasted to perfection. This labour
intensive method produces a special Kluang aromatic coffee blend that speaks for itself. Generally, coffee lovers drink either the dark coffee (Kopi O) or coffee with milk (Kopi) but over in Kluang Station, we have a huge following of ‘Cham’ drinkers. This mixture of coffee and tea drink is reputedly addictive even for non-coffee lovers.
Kopi means coffee, in our national Bahasa Malaysia language in Malaysia. Our kopitiam serves one of the world’s most distinctive taste in coffee, the Ipoh coffee. Loyally roasted to perfection. Memorably aromatic.
Perfection is the cornerstone of our kopi. And where do you get perfectly roasted and aromatic coffee powder in Malaysia? Where else but Ipoh, Perak.
• Italian roast : glossy, brown-black, strongly flavored, used for espresso.
• European roast: two-thirds heavy-roast beans blended with one-third regular-roast.
• Viennese roast: one-third heavy-roast beans blended with two-thirds regular-roast.
• Instant coffee: a powder made of heat-dried freshly brewed coffee.
• Freeze-dried coffee: brewed coffee that has been frozen into a slush before the water is evaporated, normally more expensive that instants but with a superior flavor.
• Decaffeinated coffee: caffeine is removed from the beans before roasting via the use of a chemical solvent (which disappears completely when the beans are roasted) or the Swiss water process which steams the beans and then scrapes off the caffeine-laden outer layers
There! I admitted it! It's true! I love it! I have a lot of it!
There is nothing like a hot cup of coffee in the morning... the smell, the aroma... you pour it into your cup, hold the warm cup in your hands, bring it up close to your nose, deep breath in.... take your first sip... ahhh... nothing like it!
I don't consider myself a coffee snob tho... I don't have to go to expensive coffee houses... I love to brew a good pot at home with my own coffee beans from my favorite store! Whether it be a drip or a french press... it's all good!
